"My dad, Edward Smrkovsky, was born in Clarkston, Nebraska on 1920."
"The Son of a poor, dirt, farmer, they lived...
"Back then, a quiet and meanger life."
...
"Dad had a sister named Emily Ann who passed away at the age of only eight from what was called back then...
"The Blood Disease."
"Which is today knon as 'Leukemia.'
"He also had two brothers named Joseph and James."
"His mother's name was Mary and His dad's name was 'Vulcac."
"We're Czechs!"
...
"Dad graduated(with honors)
"From the small high school in Clarkston."
"A class of only sixteen."
He then, at the age of only sixteen, joined the U.S. Navy."

"Now his first hitch was during the Korean War."
"Previously, they had traveled the world on maneuvers on one of four Destroyers."
(The Wasp, The Hornet, the U.S.S. Fulton, and one other Destroyer which was not in my genealogy."

"His first mission was the Korean War."

"And, since he was a Chief, of course, He did not seen any action but from the ship."

"As Vietnam was approaching, He had done His last hitch on the 'U.S.S. Fulton' which did nucleur Explosions at sea!"

"After a Nervous Breakdown because he was not ready to come home to a family with a wife and four sons...
"He had no idea how to do that!"
"He left the 'Comforting Blanket' of war...

"Dad's last hitch in the Navy was 1959 when we moved to Sewell, New Jersey."
