Thinking of You

Memories of Dad

by Poetic Friend

I often think about you, Dad,
remembering your time on earth.
A man of moral strength was born
the day the Lord announced your birth.

The elements of fatherhood,
like banners, you were proud to wear.
Eternally, your love resides
in wind and water, fire and air.

An eagle's power dwelled in you,
for bravery and poise you stored,
protecting regions of my sky
with wings of armor as you soared.

Still, you were tranquil like the sun,
emitting warmth to rid my rain,
and in your eyes, now closed for rest,
your "little girl," I shall remain.

Your sentiments of wisdom sail
upon the lapping waves of sea,
preparing me for feisty tides
and billows bearing agony.

One autumn day, you passed away,
and Heaven opened gates for you.
Your spirit travels with the wind
and glistens in the morning dew.
