John Wayne, the one and only, lives on.

The Duke

by zekeziemann

THE DUKE
Clint was okay and Jimmy Stewart did fine.
Glenn Ford was always a favorite of mine.
At Saturday's movie Roy and Dale did reign,
But there'll never be another John Wayne!

Lee Marvin was oft a mean son-of-a-gun.
Sam Elliott, with that voice, could sure get it done.
Gary Cooper, in High Noon, stood alone in pain,
But there'll never be another John Wayne!

Jim Arness kept the peace in old Dodge City.
Richard Boone showed guts and seldom pity.
And Alan Ladd played a wonderful Shane.
But there will never be another John Wayne!

Audie Murphy, Ben Johnson and William Boyd
Among others were wonderful on celluloid.
Each one has their place and will always remain,
But there'll never be another John Wayne!

Tommy Lee Jones, Robert Duvall in Lonesome Dove
The best TV show ever, there is none above.
As number one it will forever reign,
But there will never be another John Wayne!

As a fan of Western Movies, I still believe the Duke is the KING.
Enjoy!
