a Burns Stanza for Potlatch 11/4
On July 4, 1986, in celebration of Lady Liberty's 200 years hence dedication, a three day event in NYC, called Liberty Weekend, was presented.
I could not find any source that would estimate the attendance for the fireworks display, but I was there and my "feeling"/memory sense is that the number was somewhere between 2 and 3 million.
I did, however, find this:
"...the highlight of the night was the largest fireworks display in American history, and at the time the largest in the world. The display included 22,000 aerial fireworks, launched from 30 barges and other vantage points, in addition to 18,000 set pieces. It was co-produced by four family-owned fireworks firms, namely the Zambelli, Grucci, Santore and Sousa families"
Burns Stanza basic construction: 6 lines, iambic meter with syllable count 8,8,8,4,8,4 and rhyme scheme a/a/a/b/a/b
