Love Gone Wrong

Love Bites

by Boogienights

The first time I laid eyes on him,
it was love at first sight.
There was no hesitation,
I brought him home that night.
We seemed so good together,
like it was destined to be,
It felt like I was meant for him
and he was meant for me.
I gave him all that I could give,
love, devotion, food.
I even built a house for him,
though it was rather crude.
Got all I needed at the hardware store,
bolts, washers, nails, wood.
I'm not much of a carpenter
but I did the best I could.
The love we had between us,
I thought that it would grow.
Sadly it would end too soon,
for little did I know,
what my friends all tried to warn me,
would turn out to be so right.
Too bad I didn't listen,
I thought his bark worse than his bite.
Until one day it happened,
how could I be so blind?
Ended up with fifteen stitches,
and scars left to remind!
He's gone now having run from me,
tore my heart out from my chest.
although considering everything,
I suppose it's for the best.
Now I'm sitting here drowning my sorrows,
eating chocolate by the vat.
Won't happen again this heartache,
next time I'll get a cat.
