Patience is the companion of wisdom,
or, at least that's what we've been told.
'Tis best to wait and ponder things out,
than charge forward swift and bold.
--- but ---
The race is to the swiftest, I've heard,
the wise and advising folks say.
Make that mark in your life, right now,
don't waste the hours by waiting all day.
--- but ---
Good things come to those who wait, they say,
don't rush into error blatantly.
That stitch in time saves far more than nine;
iron out those troubles patiently.
--- but ---
Strike while the iron is hot, it was said,
take hold of opportunities new,
show the fine trait of initiative,
it's a most undeniable virtue.
--- but ---
Patience is a virtue, I also know,
don't risk what impatience might cost,
good things come to those who wait - remember?
Hold steadily to what might be lost.
--- but ---
He who hesitates is lost. Oh my!
For "patience" and "haste," you will find,
myriad quotes of both are made up,
by those who can't make up their mind!
