The Perfect Poem

I have been an insomniac all my life
Words whizzing through my head
So, I lay in bed wide awake

Up I get to write it all down
This will put my mind to rest
So, I sit here on my royal throne*

Pen and paper in hand
The great poem I will construct
It's my lifetime aspiration

It will be eloquent, a work of art
Each word chosen to inspire
The perfect picture and color theme

A hauntingly beautiful song recorded
I'll end with authors notes that
will bring you to tears

Then I'll go to bed and sleep
Beautiful dreams of success
Til morning light brings the day

I will find my notes written in haste
Words jumbled and miss-spelled
Oh! for Pete's sake. It's a mess.
