Make Me Forget

by Dawn Munro

Make Me Forget

My life is not worth living without him, Lord -
the one You know has always been romantic.
Though romance isn't all about two people,
real desperation makes a person frantic.

I'm blessed - I have a wonderful abundance
of friends at home, and those who know me here.
But truth be told, I sometimes feel like dying -
I wish I could surrender, disappear,

for even heaven sees how sad my yearning.
I dream - remember days of tender bliss.
With one more gaze into his eyes - belonging -
I'd leave behind this terrible abyss.

So, Morpheus, please grant I will forget him!
I've lived too long with anguish of regret.
I cannot find a future in tomorrow -
I beg you, God of Dreams, make me forget.
