The Jester's Message

by Justin Chopin

Jester's Message: Justin Chopin

Just a merrymaker,
an insignificant joker on the palace scene.
Everyone thinks I'm nothing
just a lowly entertainer for the king and queen.
Silly, yes I act this way for my livelihood,
but in reality it's just a part.
To appease the affluent classes
who don't know anything about my heart.
Eyes of God from heaven above
lovingly gaze at me and understand.
Right inside this crazy, colorful costume
is an intelligent, God-fearing, Christian man.
Soon the day will come when others may know about
my trials and tribulations.

Mocked by their haunting voices and malicious insults,
I cry out in a spirit of lamentation.
Everyday just shaking, my heart palpitating,
I feel as depressed as I can be.
Scared beyond logic at what savage actions
my countrymen might do to me.
So, maybe the time has come to leave
all of these acrimonious feelings behind.
Almighty Father, give me the strength to forgive them
and oust all this hatred from my mind.
God forgive, your son, the jaded jester,
for my self-destructive mental sins.
Engage me, and breathe life into me
so I may feel your abundance of ethereal joy again.

I think this the second " Jester" acrostic piece I've done. The idea is that this jester would lament the way his society thinks of him as nothing but a joke , while then having a moment of clarity that he needs to relinquish all of his hatred and malice towards all those who have wronged him and give it to God before it eats him up inside. Hope you can relate to it.
