Boys maturing into responsible men

The Boys

The Boys

The boys are drunk again.

But don't feel bad for them.

Because they love the feeling.

That comes through their skins.

Thinking they can climb the ceiling,

When in reality their chances of that are slim.

Look at these fools with ties around their heads.

Running around in their underpants.

They see no use in going to rest in their beds.

Even though they've got work in the morning,

Tonight they will give their stupidity a chance.

So they wrestle each other still carrying on.

Jumping over furniture until they pass out at dawn.

They sleep throughout the morning.

Heavily snoring.

Not realizing their shifts have come and gone.

Hangover and drooling.

Their bosses weren't fooling.

As the boys checked their cell phones.

A startling email from their supervisors makes them shiver to their bones.

The message is clear but certainly not desired.

Quite simply put they have all been fired.

So the boys take the ties off of their heads.

Put their clothes on and fall back onto their beds.

In their sorrow and their shame.

They regret having played such childish games.

They make a pact with one another to never again.

Waste their time as the naive' boys for they know that it is a sin.

To stay so irresponsible when they know they must grow up

And become mature and intelligent men.

I wrote this because I felt that too many men of my age had this kind of Peter Pan never grow up never mature never accept responsibility for their actions attitude. So I just created a scenario where these friends have to face the consequences for their stupid drunken behavior which in turn makes them realize they need to become the adults they needed to be in the first place.
