A Lyricat Sonnet

A chapter in the book The Sonnets

Gathering Gloom

by Treischel

See the sky, as storm clouds bloom
that darken the day!
What threat invests this gathering gloom,
to chase us away?

See them in the distance loom,
pledging violence.
What threat invests this gathering gloom,
for dry audience?

Heed warnings of pending doom
as fire flashes bright.
What threat invests this gathering gloom,
turning day to night?

Actions may abort.
Pray the stay is short.

A ominous sky gathers.

This Poem is a Lyricat Sonnet.
I must give great credit to Pantygynt, a fellow Fanstorian, for creating a Sonnet version of I'm a Cat's Lyricat format. Creative juices are really flowing on the site these days.
The LyriCat Sonnet creates three Quatrains, each with a repeating line, and a couplet. It minicks the 7-5-9 meter of the LyriCat with a Japanese type of flair of long/short cadance. The following is meter structure:
7/5/9/5 - 7/5/9/5 - 7/5/9/5 - 5/5.
The rhyme scheme is:
abAb acAc adAd ee,
where the A represents the repeated line. Volta on line 9.
