The Game Chapter IV

by Thomas Bowling

I plead for help solving the mystery. but I receive no answer. Damn. Where are you, Dad? I need you now.

For two weeks, I do the painstaking process of substituting letters to try and make sense of the message. After two weeks, I come up with this:

my name if david i nillae i ui wife oopmri next

“You seem to have reached an impasse. Would you like some help?”

“Yes. Please.”

“All you had to do was ask.”

“But you said I had enough to solve the problem.”

“I overestimated your intelligence. Perhaps this will help. y is 27. Surely this will be enough. I could solve the mystery with one chip tied behind my screen.”

I go back to work. If nothing else, this challenge has kept my mind off my problems. I'm thankful for that. Let's see. It's beginning to take shape

I stagger to my feet.

Oh, God, NO! My best friend. The guy I worked with for twelve years. Christ, he's had dinner in my house.

David, you bastard.

my name is david i killed your wife you’re next

This evening, I will kill David.
