Elise's gift

by CD Richards

F
rom the town of Bonn emerged a talent never matched

Ünrivaled master, genius without peer

Romantic, not, nor classicist, he merged the two with ease

Each note enchanting to the human ear

Loud and brash, or sweet and soft, the audience is lost

In harmonies and melodies so fine

Silence could not silence him, nor deafness him impede

Elise's gift— a bagatelle divine

27/04/2017:

On this day in 1810, Ludwig Van Beethoven released Fur Elise - one of the most recognised pieces from the classical/romantic era. This is my tribute to mark the occasion.

Picture: public domain.

Bagatelle: "a short unpretentious instrumental composition".
