As dawn grew near, Sebastian wrapped up his first night back in control of his body after the Beast destroyed the Chiang-shih demon. And it was frickin’ fantastic not having that thing possess his body any longer.
What was not so hot was the fact that everything felt different without his darling Eve. He felt deflated without her as if life was sucked completely out of him. Bottom line, without Eve by his side, everything seemed to be just a shadow of what it used to be. His mission was to get her back and then seek revenge against the Breedline.
A quick check of his Cartier told him he had only two hours left before closing time at the private club where he and Eve used to share a room. Still able to conjure a portal, he traveled to the parking lot at NightShade. Shit at the club grew seedier as midnight closed in, and the escorts that worked here—who looked like they just stepped out of a porn flick—were bringing in clients like bees to honey.
He stood in the dark, sniffed the air and looked to the left. The unmistakable scent of a female Breedline wafted over from the front entrance. Sebastian would pursue her to satisfy his needs before he retired for the night.
As he kept going, walking onward to the glorious fragrance that enticed his appetite, a massive figure stepped into his path. Sebastian halted and took a deep breath as he felt a cold prickling run down his spine. It was Corbin Azzo; a Breedline that turned against his own kind to serve his father, the Chiang-shih demon.
With a confused expression, Corbin furrowed his brows and muttered, “Master?”
Before Sebastian could utter a response, the sound of footsteps came from behind, and then he heard the same irritating word repeated once again.
Immediately Sebastian tucked one hand inside his leather Armani jacket, feeling for his weapon. For the second time in one night, he was called master. Turning around, he saw Samuel and Fredrick Mercier—both Breedline twins who had gone traitor against the council.
One thought that shot through Sebastian’s mind was; he didn’t want to be like his father. He didn’t want to walk that stretch of hell on earth trying to keep others in line. All he wanted right now was to get Eve back where she belonged. Back in his arms and in his bed.
“Sorry, but your master no longer resides here,” Sebastian mouthed in a smug tone.
“Sebastian?” Samuel muttered in a thick French accent. “Is that you?”
“Yes you idiot,” he mocked with his eyes narrowed. “Your master is dead. You no longer serve a purpose with me.”
“B-but?” Fredrick stammered. “What about the Breedline council? Don’t you want to get revenge against them for killing your father?”
“Nope,” he said, kicking up his chin with arrogance. “Frankly, I don’t give a damn. So go on with your pathetic lives.” He waved his hand in dismissal. “And stay out of my way.”
“We need to talk to you,” Corbin said. “It’s important.”
Sebastian rolled his eyes. “You’re wasting your time, Corbin,” he said roughly. “I don’t have anything to say to any of you.”
In spite of the fact they were strung with weapons and probably wanted to use them on him after he practically spat in their faces, Sebastian walked away, leaving them feeling dumbfounded with their mouths hanging wide open.
When Sebastian walked across the parking lot with his mind on the female he’d detected earlier—before the three stooges rudely interrupted—he entered the front entrance to the club’s bar.
All through the club, loud electro dance music thumped, while women dressed in bits of leather paraded by on client patrol and men glared at one another. Moving toward the bar, he found the VIP section and sat down. When the waitress came up to his table, she recognized him. With her hips tilted to one side and her hand on the other, her red coated lips formed a coy smile.
“Haven’t seen you in awhile,” she spoke in a sultry voice. “What’s your poison, sweetheart?”
“Shot of Patron,” he quickly replied.
As the waitress sauntered off, Sebastian watched the crowd, searching for the female Breedline.
Moments later, his attention was shifted to the shot glass the waitress placed on his table. After he had tossed back the tequila, he said, “Bring me another… and start a tab.”
After the fourth glass, Sebastian’s eyes narrowed, aggression flaring in them. And finally, he eyed a leggy blond at the end of the bar. With her Playboy body, she looked like sex on a stick.
She noticed him staring, and the way she looked back at him gave him the signal she was available. Sebastian’s gothic but handsome features drove most women into a sexual frenzy. He’d never had trouble picking up women in his life. They practically fell into his arms and straight into his bed. His long, silky jet black hair and his chiseled face stood out amongst the rest of the men. And he had the kind of body that looked ready for all sorts of action.
The blond across the club smiled at him, picked a cherry out of her pink liquor, and swirled her tongue around the stem. A smile emerged from Sebastian’s lips as he imagined her doing that to him.
He shifted out of his chair and headed in her direction. As Sebastian moved next to her, she looked him up and down. She cocked a brow and smiled when her eyes stopped below his waist.
When Sebastian and the blond came up against each other, her mouth dropped open. Not because she was shocked, but from the alluring scent that was coming off his body.
Holding out his hand, he murmured, “Come with me.”
Damn, she thought. His voice sounded like a sex-phone operator, all husky and mad sexed up. “Aren’t you going to ask my name?”
Still waiting for her hand, he shook his head. “Does it matter?”
As she grasped his hand, he guided her back to his old private room. It wasn’t long after they were inside when Sebastian had her bent over a chair. With her black leather skirt pushed up, he saw a tattoo of a little red heart on her hip, and a chain around her lower waist. And both were getting banged around to the rhythm of his thrusting.
He roared as he climaxed, thinking she was exactly what he’d needed. Until he could get Eve back, this kind of arrangement would have to do.
As soon as Sebastian finished, he zipped up.
“What about me?” she whined.
He shrugged. “What about you?”
Standing up straight, she pushed her skirt down and pouted her bottom lip. “Are you serious?”
Ignoring her, he turned around and nonchalantly walked up to a mirror that hung on the wall. With one eyebrow cocked, he pulled his long hair back and smiled at his reflection.
With her hands on her hips, she fumed. “Excuse me? I’m talking to you?”
Annoyed, Sebastian glanced at her from the mirror. “You don’t honestly expect me to care whether you get off.” He smirked. “Remember, I’m the one paying you.”
For a moment, she seemed confused by his smug statement. She tilted her hip to one side, pursing her lips. “Did you really just say that?”
“What didn’t you understand?”
His hateful words made her brows furrow. “Fine,” she grumbled with her hand held out. “Then pay me!”
Sebastian pulled out his wallet and glanced over his shoulder. “What do I owe you?”
“Since you’re such a bastard,” she spewed, flipping her hair. “It will be five hundred.”
In the blink of an eye, he spun around and snatched her by the arm. Getting face-to-face, he growled, “Don’t be a bitch.”
Using her free hand, she slapped him hard across the face. “Screw you!”
Okay, the fighting definitely made her more interesting. When Sebastian’s fangs punched out into his mouth, he was ready to drink her dry.
First, there was screaming, and then a little struggle, but in the long run, it all played out in Sebastian’s favor. When he satisfied his hunger, he left the blond unconscious on the floor. Before he ducked out of the room, he turned around and threw money beside her and smiled. “You’re lucky… this time.” And then he was gone.

As Eve’s lids drew heavy, someone or something came to her room. At first, she saw nothing, just a shifting patch of a shadow, and then a shimmering figure evolved out of the darkness. Surrounded by a brilliant glow, he had beautiful black wings that unsheathed from his back and spread wide. She could feel the warmth from his body as he hovered above her bed. His face was a human face with sun-kissed skin and long wavy dark hair. His eyes were greenish-yellow and slit-pupiled like a cat’s. Looking into his mesmerizing features, Eve seemed calm in his presence.
“Who are you?” she asked lifting herself higher on the pillow with her eyes locked on his.
The bright image leaned in toward her and smiled. His front teeth were sharp, pointed like feline teeth. “I am Raphael,” he said, his voice soft as a whisper.
“Are you… supposed to be an angel?” Eve queried.
“Yes,” he said grinning. “I am the angel of healing.”
A numb heaviness weighed Eve as she slowly raised her head, clenching her brows. “Why are you here?”
In the silence that followed, she watched closely as he lowered his gaze toward her small rounded belly. “I am here to heal the innocent,” he said, his voice casting into a delicate echo. And then she felt warmth spread throughout her body as he placed his hand against her skin.
From out of nowhere, Eve drifted into a state of ease and comfort, releasing all her years of past torture and pain.
Raphael raised his head and stared at Eve; it was a look that made her eyes flood with tears. His expression was of forgiveness and love. “I have saved your unborn children,” he said after a pause. “Worry not my child, the hate in your heart will soon fade and love will take its place.” His eyes sparkled like diamonds. “And you will have no memory of me.”
As he vanished from her room, Eve felt tears pressing behind her eyes. Wiping them away, she kept them closed and floated into the most beautiful dream. She dreamt of a future filled with happiness and a loving family.

BREEDLINE - A species of humans that have the ability to change from human form into a wolf. They are not like the old legend of the Lycanthropy myth. Breedline species can shift into their wolf at will. The moon has no power over them. They do not pass their ability to other humans with a bite or scratch like the Lycanthropy myth.
The Breedline gene is passed down to offspring that are born identical twins. Although they live amongst human, their species must be kept secret.
In wolf form, they have super strength, speed, and heightened senses. Their lifespan is the same as a normal human, but they are immune to illness and disease. Only a silver bullet to the brain will kill them. All males change into their wolf at the age of eighteen. Females do not go through the change until they make love to their Breedline bonded mate.
BREEDLINE TWINS - Identical twins that are born from either one or both parents of the Breedline species. They have a strong, unbreakable bond from birth, are born with telepathic abilities, and have the power to sense the other's emotions or injuries. In some cases, the bond between twins are so strong, if one dies, the other twin may pass on, especially if they don't have a mate.
BREEDLINE BONDING - The male Breedline spends their life in search of their bonded mate. When the male comes in contact with her, he instantly feels a simultaneous, desirable attraction and she becomes the most important thing in his life. He is there to love, protect, and cherish her until death. Once they are mated, they bond for life. It is possible for them to have more than one mate in their lifespan.
BELOVED - A word used by a Breedline to express the bond to their mate.
DOUBLE BONDED - In some cases, male Breedline twins bond with the same female; but one will carry a stronger bond. Usually one of them must sacrifice for the other twin.
BREEDLINE COVENANT - The Breedline species must live within the boundaries of a Covenant, which is only formed with their species. The Covenant is governed and ruled by a head council. The council keeps their laws in order and oversees the species population.
THE BREEDLINE QUEEN - Over centuries the Breedline Covenant is ruled by a true Queen. If there is no Queen living, the Covenants are governed by an appointed head council until another Queen is born. A Breedline Queen is born once every one hundred years. Her massive stature, black fur, and red eyes are the Queen's trademarks. Her alpha wolf has twice the strength, speed, and size of any Breedline. The Queen is expected to rule over all the Breedline Covenants where she will be respected and obeyed by all Breedline. This is their absolute True Law.
THE QUEENS RING - This ring has been passed down to all Breedline Queens for generations. When the new Queen places the ring on, it instantly shifts in size to fit her finger.
TRUE LAW - All Breedline Covenants have an ancient book of laws. If either sex disobeys the Breedline laws, they can be shunned, or no longer protected by their Covenant. If a Breedline takes another life out of revenge, or evil - other than protecting their life, and the life of another - they will never have the ability to shift back human and cast out as a rogue wolf.
ROGUE WOLF - A Breedline shunned by their Covenant for taking another life out of revenge or evil and forced to live as a wolf until death without the ability to change human again. Some rogue wolves form into packs, which can be dangerous for other Breedline species.
RED (BLOOD) MOON - When the full moon passes through the amber shadow of the earth, producing a midnight eclipse visible across North America. So begins a lunar eclipse tetrad, a series of four consecutive total eclipses occurring at approximately six-month intervals. This incredible light beams into the heart of earth's shadow, filling it with a coppery glow and transforming the moon into a great red orb. During this time, all Breedline species that are mated have a strong desire to create offspring. This is also a time when Breedline females are more fertile for the conception of twins.
CHIANG-SHIH DEMON (Kiang shi, a.k.a Ramael Arminius) - An ancient demon that inhabits the body of a Breedline fetus before it's born, or during a Breedline's death. It continues to take the soul over the natural lifespan of the child, or the deceased Breedline. When the demon possesses a fetus, it breaks the bonding and telepathic abilities of their twin when they are born.
