A story about friendship
A chapter in the book Acrostics
Andie is a sweet child. Next month she will be nine.
Mom asked her what she wanted. "A ring of gold that's mine."
"Andie, but your grades have dropped." "They went from A's to B's."
"You'll have to study harder, nothing in life is a breeze."
"I don't expect perfection, but you need to help me at home too."
"Pick up your dolls and toys when the day is through."
"If you do these things a promise it will be.
You'll have to work for it nothing in life is free."
"A promise is part of it. Cherish it from your heart."
"I'll find one just for you my little miss sweetheart."
Andie started studying harder and she picked up after play.
Mom and dad were so proud Time to shop for her birthday.
The first ring that they found had a small stone of blue.
Another was too plain. Finally they found one they loved too.
It had a sparkling stone. A tiny heart of gold.
They asked the lady to wrap it up. This ring was definitely sold.
Two days later her friends came by. The cake had chocolate icing too.
Andie didn't see a ring box. What was she to do?
She opened up the gifts. Lots of toys she liked a lot
When she had finished, Mom said, "There is something we forgot."
They handed her the box. It was small in size.
When she opened it, she felt hypnotized.
She loved the ring very much but the ring didn't fit her right
They told her it was no problem they'll have it sized tonight.
The time it took to get it back seemed like an eternity.
Andie wore it proudly and let her schoolmates see.
Mom said, "Please remember to stay true to your heart every day."
"To do what you know is right. Do not let setbacks stand in the way."
"Keep an open mind remember other's opinions are just fine."
"You like chocolate fudge, I'll take butterscotch on mine."
"Don't judge others too quickly. Worry about your own stuff."
"Keep your friends close. Too much patience is never enough."
"The heart is golden. To yourself stay true."
"Honesty and friendship are number one; remember that someone may be watching you."
