A walk through the bookstore in ballad measure
"There's so much knowledge in this world
for one small mind to hold.
Doggone it, I have never seen
so many words unfold!
"So far I've only nibbled books
and learnt to turn the page.
There's more in here than pictures though -
these squiggles are the rage,
"and when I can decipher them
I won't look so perplexed;
I must approach this doggedly
to understand the text.
"Not long ago I learnt to walk
and stepping out is fun.
Together we make quite a team!
Pablito, pal, lead on!"
Her Schnauzer's sniffed the perfect book
for Teagan's nimble mind,
A book of science, year by year -
now that's a toothsome find!
There isn't much a girl can't do
with words at her command
and, when she settles down to read,
she'll find a whole new land.
