Seventy, Sixties Something

Seventy, Sixties Something

Annie's Song crooned on a bright Denver morn
The Rhinestone Cowboy, old saddles, adorn
Rocky Mountain High, pierce the moonless night
Aspen in bloom-- a lone writer's delight

Nights In White Satin, long came to an end
Letters once written, on love now depend
A Horse With No Name, its freedom proclaim
And so had we lived, furnaced as a flame

A Love Child, Watching Flowers In The Rain
Silently wishing rainbows would remain
El Condor Pasa, blued skies; once again
Kaleidoscope eyes such beauty sustain

Wichita Lineman, our handbook through time
If a poor man's son, so chanced on a dime
First Cut Is The Deepest, lucky being worse
River Deep Mountain High--strengthen our thirst

A Hard Day's Night still Blowin' In The Wind
Whilst, Monday, Monday implied we had sinned
Unchained Melody should our tears portray
In whispers of thought--love's soliloquy

Once gentle the mood in San Francisco
Now Concrete And Clay like stone flowers grow
We stare: the stage bare, once part of the show
The Age Of Aquarius lost in snow

Morning Has Broken, its mist well defined
Daydream Believer? Perhaps, of a kind
For I Just Can't Help Believing, hopin'
Still yet a day...California Dreamin'

At times we grow weary... sometimes so small
As The Sound Of Silence constantly call
Bridge Over Troubled Water, standing tall
Together we'll cross, the last of us all

...Yes, together, no barriers, no wall colours, no creed, have nots or have all
..we all

Soliloquy = The act of thoughts aloud
The word ''all'' used multiple times for emphasis and togetherness

We are the last generation of 60's and 70's, and what a glorious period. Doubt there will be such again. After us, there will be none to remember, as being there. In celebration of a time unique that we were privileged, or fortunate, for want of better word, to be part of. That bridge awaits us, and together, in that same unity we had hoped for then, and succeeded ...for a time. With this write I celebrate joy and togetherness as I know now, much unseen then.

To you... and then, my friends, for the unforgettable.
