Poem for my son

You'll Never Walk Alone

by Mitchell Brontë

A million words cannot come close
to say what I feel about the one I love most.
From that special first moment I welcomed you home
cradling you as I sang "You'll Never Walk Alone".
Those words I meant from here on in
my Boy, my Son, my everything.

To love someone as much, I never knew I could
the things I would do for you, no one else would.
You're kind and caring with that opulent smile
with me a love for you, there can be no denial.
A smile that makes my eyes dance with joy
You're my life, my world, my special Boy.

Timeless memories all, engulf my every thought
how to be the best possible Dad is what you have taught.
Each moment cherished, you've given me so much pleasure
a reason to live, your love I will treasure.
So few cross words proved to me that you cared
the love you've given to me, the laughter we've shared.

You've got your Dads creativity, integrity and humour too
from your Mother her good looks, passion and will to do.
And when I'm gone you have nothing to fear
You'll never walk alone, believe me I'll always be there.
I'll always be here to guide you through life's worries and pain
if ever you need me just whisper my name.

Eventually your time will come and you're ready to go
don't worry about anything here's all you need to know.
When your life's circle is fulfilled, you can leave it in style
I'll be waiting at heavens door with a hug and a smile.
