This work has reached the exceptional level
a sonnet for my Valentine

Until The Tides Run Still

by Dawn Munro

When one has had a love as pure as yours,
there’s no desire to find another mate.
Though heaven has a million other doors,
I’ll stay right where I am, forever wait

in hopes that someday we will meet again.
The lesson learned is one I’ll carry to my grave.
Yes, even angels serenade in vain,
I was so blind to what you freely gave!

So Cupid cannot, will not find my heart!
It still belongs to you, my Valentine.
I did not know until we were apart,
but when I realized that you’d been mine,

I vowed that I would live with loss until
the very tides and rivers all run still.
