Funny poem (free verse) about a serious matter.

My cancer a couple of years ago.

by robina1978

A couple of years ago I was found to be anaemic,
which is no funny business.
The GP sent me for a stomach investigation,
and the bowels at the same time.

A few days later we got the result
in kidney problems. Therefore he could
not even tell me the stage of the esophagus cancer.
There also were many polyps in the colon.

I knew even without checking a book
or my computer that it could turn out
very serious if in a progressed stage.
So without any proper knowledge
we went back to the GP, and I asked for euthanasia.
She plainly refused as it could be cured.

So stuck I was in a situation
worse than being locked in prison.
I knew our local health service is not the best,
so computer time needed.
I found a hospital near Utrecht that
we knew and trusted.

This might have saved my life,
my sister told me as in Groningen
they would give radiation or chemotherapy first.
So in one go esophagus out,
stomach tube made instead.

Means you can't eat much.
So I lost a fair amount of weight,
which made my day.
As I never expected to get very old,
I always wanted to die with few kilos,
so I would not be to heavy to carry.

HAHA, that goal I have achieved.
And beautiful scars all over my body.
