Rain's Renewal

by Barb Hensongispsaca

The sun will bake the ground as hard as clay
but when the rain comes down and wets the Earth
the beauty of creation will show through
and sprouts of joy will grow to catch the clouds.

Where once was ground so bare and worn as brick
the shoots of green will color, fill and hide
all places brown from baking 'neath the sun
to reclaim what was once its pride and joy.

Then following the shoots of grassy green
come rainbow blooms of orange, blue and red
fantastic hues that spread through out the land
like fireworks across the darkened space.

The veins of Earth begin to throb anew
and now once more, creation's at its best
as nature claims dominion over all
and tells the world that it's not time to die.
