Young Angry Cat

by nomi338

Young Angry Cat
Oh yeah I'm a young angry cat
Not sure who to be angry at
Knew they wanted to steal the game
So they could go and change the name

As Rap emerged it was hated
In courtrooms hotly debated
Kids with money liked it a lot
So the industry said it was hot

Greedy execs had to worry
See we were not in a hurry
We saw what happened in the past
We knew that pop fame never lasts

Saw the mistakes that others made
Knew who only really got paid
Wrote our own deals, spun our own wheels
Made strong contracts against any steals

But greedy moguls are not dumb
They still influenced the outcome
They control who gets seen or heard
So they control our spoken word

Oh yeah I'm a young angry cat
Now I know who I'm angry at
Angry because I'm a buffoon
Now watch me dance to the man's tune

Thanks to MKFlood for the use of the humorous illustration They Call Themselves Rappers.
This poem is a kind of tongue in cheek criticism of the takeover of the rap industry. It is peppered with grains of truth written in the style of the complaints made by many less than successful rapper's regarding the rap business.
Pays one point and 2 member cents.
