Three kites with copper and silver strings
fly in the sky.

They rise high, with delight,
to bounce upstairs, with the birds, and the wind.

One is pale yellow--serene;
another red and blue--dominant;
the center one, aquamarine, is a unifier.

At the tease of the willful wind,
their slim tails bend, fold, and sway
in a corner of the severe sky.

If I were a poet I could join them above,
Along with my notebook
in this scrap of bare borrowed time.

I could just fly up and write a lyric verse
around the inspiration of the plump leading cloud
and complete my long standing poetry book...

Let the sun bless those dancing kites high above,
and the inspirations that they can bring.....
