the treehouse

by judester

Sam stormed from the house and the yelling. His fiancee was mad and with good reason. The money that they had saved for their wedding was lost. Not lost lost, but squandered on a few misleading hands of poker and Johnny Walker last night.
He ran to his refuge, a tree fort built by him and his grandfather when he was young. He climbed the ladder and sat down at the wooden table.

They would spend hours here, organizing his grandfather's valuable coin collection.
He sighed and remembered the last time they were here together.
His grandfather had told him that the coins would be Sam's inheritance, but then he had died suddenly, without telling Sam where he kept his precious coins.

Sam could still hear his fiancee from the house, probably talking to her mother and cancelling plans.

Couldn't just one thing go his way? He banged his fist on the table and his wish came true.

Like a waterfall, the old coins dropped and rolled across the planked floor.
Grandfather had built a box on the underside of the table for his coins. With his anger, he had solved the problem of the hidden coins, and his wedding.
