Baby Jesus' point of view . . .

Emmanuel

by livelylinda

In a little town called Bethlehem . . .

what is that bright light in the sky
which brings such a tear to my eye
it radiates important news

a wondrous day I hear them say
in my cradle of straw and hay
warm and safe in soft swaddling clothes

I lay in my manger and coo
the big cow responds with a moo
oxen and lamb gaze upon me

wise men bring gifts from far away
they bow before me where I lay
gold frankincense and myrrh they bring

then a little boy with a drum
played music and to it I hum
he said it was his gift to me

some angels appear before me
they join the ones on bended knee
they've come to worship and adore

mommy told me I'm the savior
I am here to change behavior
must save all people from their sins

I must get some restful sleep now
have much to learn, I don't know how
to save sinners and heal the ill

" . . . and they shall call his name Emmanuel,
which being interpreted is, God with us" . . .
Matthew 1:23
