Retreating from life
shrouds incessant riot,
restoring my soul
in the holy font of quiet.

I hear life pulsing
and the whispers of my heart;
I hear dreams singing
and thoughts creating art.

I hear sins dropping,
lilting mercy for the weak,
angels exhaling, and
Father God speak.
