contest poem Im not perfect

Learning the art of acceptance

by Jackarrie

Once I was young I was cute and so pretty
I could run and dance at the drop of a hat
But now my reflection says, "oh what a pity"
How come your hair has turned out like that?

My hairdresser sighs when I enter the salon
Come back tomorrow, I'm off at noon
friends tell me to wear the latest wigs
Treat yourself, now that you're off the cigs

I have tried to be perfect but failed
tried different strategies to no avail
I soon realized perfection is in very few
So I took myself off the proverbial queue

Those hurtful names are left at my gate
I move on with my life now all things are great
I refuse to have perfection expected of me
Adopting this attitude has set me free
