Our lives are measured in the ticks of the clock.
Time Keeps Ticking
I sit here in this small dark room.
Sounds filter thru the closed door.
The clock on the wall keeps loudly ticking.
You seem so small and fragile
Silver hair falls softly on the white pillow.
Covers pulled up tight around your neck.
Tick...tick...tick
Your chest rises and falls.
Soft breath sounds please my heart.
Finally you are getting some sleep.
The clock keeps ticking.
I saw and heard your heart beating yesterday
when they did the Echocardiogram.
It's sound...
those unborn memories so familiar
Stirred me to my core.
It couldn't tell the whole story.
of how brave and strong
or how much love it holds.
or where your humor is stored.
The clock keeps ticking.
It has been an ordeal for you....for us.
You have kept your gentle spirit
You have been brave in the face of fear.
Strong in your mind
And still able to laugh.
Thankful and full of love in your heart.
The clock keeps ticking.
I can NOT bear the thought
of you not being here on earth with us.
You are the cradle of my life.
Your heart, your breaths
were the first sounds I heard.
The clock keeps ticking.
Mother, I love you.
I am thankful for you giving me life.
I am blessed that God placed me in your care.
You have done a wonderful job of raising us
Now, it is my turn to care for you.
Rest, sleep...God and your daughters are watching over you.
The clock keeps ticking...
