Facing voices

Empty Street

by Walter L. Jones

Nod the shadows are laying against the markers on the wall
I sleep in the day dreams down the golden walls
Just another soldier in memory lost my way
See the eagle as it flies to stay
And our hearts on the mantle
With a love as great as time
And the drugs already playing with my memory and my mind
The game is getting stronger as the drip becomes the story
Ask you shall receive a pardon on the die
St Peter is standing next to the marine that guards the gate
And the bells of hell screaming, it is all just little late
Andy and the tramp move across the last scene
I believe candle and cross against bible and bell
Not worthy but here I am just the same
