Marriage forced on children

by Jackarrie

Why oh why do this to the kids,
not so long ago they were in their cribs.
Now led down the aisle in terror and dread,
trust has been broken, by being misled.

Trapped in a sad life with no free will,
never to be given an education or a skill.
The toll on these child brides is major,
enduring pre teen pregnancies and labour.

Forced to live with the family of the groom,
days spent hard working only doom and gloom.
Domestic violence is a common occurrence,
no joy or bliss through this lack of coherence.

Child grooms also suffer along with the child bride,
to be a man at the age of eight, the hurt he must hide.
Their childhood eradicated, along with their innocence,
docile and accepting they are groomed for ignorance.
