Finally the long trial was over, and the judge excused us. The last juror to leave the courthouse, I hoped to avoid the dauntless Press and the pandemonium.

It had been easy to convict Tsarnaev as the evidence was overwhelming. But condemning him to death? My conscience nagged me still.

Outside, cameras flashed at me. From the cheering crowd, a woman, both crying and smiling, limped toward me on a prosthetic leg. She grabbed my face and kissed me flush on the lips.

"Thank you, sir. Now I can move on at last. Justice!"

I smiled. Perhaps I'd voted right.

Recognized

The conviction and sentencing to death of the second Boston Marathon bomber created quite a furor. Survivors have expressed mixed feelings about the death sentence. My story, based on newspaper stories I have read, is purely fiction.

The picture is of the convicted murderer Dzhokhar Tsarnaev the day his death sentence was announced.
