The Room Is Filled With Tension Toda

The Room Is Filled With Tension Today

The room is filled with tension today,
The feast of Pentecost has come their way.
The fifty days after Easter fled,
The Law on Mt. Sinai was in stone read.

The feast marks the end of harvest time,
Markets are busy with booming of purchases.
So in the room the doors are locked secure.
Fear is high that something the leaders will procure.

So all are gathered round closer today.
The desire of prayer is great and without delay.
The Apostles turn to Mary, the Mother,
She can help them pray without stutter.

So together they recite the psalms,
The same the feast day calls to hum.
Also they recall the readings of the Law,
As the prophet Joel did long ago.

A gentle recitation comes from the lips of Mary,
Softly her voice does rise, giving the story.
She turns to Simon Peter, to read the passage clearly.
The voice gives in solemn tones, the ancient Decalogue.

The room is filled with the mood of anticipation.
As Simon Peter reads the Commandments given.
At this very moment it is clear,
The sky is open with power appeared!

A wind came through the windows latched.
The sound, a majestic sigh, led a full dispatch.
All the room was filled with dazzlingly light,
As Tongues of Fire came to ignite.

Upon the heads of the Apostles gathered,
There around the glowing Mother.
Each head touched with a flaming Tongue,
Began to speak now all fear flung.

Suddenly the doors burst open.
Forth the Twelve were visibly driven.
Not by any power on earth,
Only with the Love of God showing forth.

Sunday is Pentecost and the coming of the Holy Spirit upon Mary and the Apostles. This is taken from my book of Biblical Poems on the Stations of Light: After the Resurrection.
