haiku suite writing prompt entry
Writing Prompt Please write FOUR haiku - all related to the SAME field/meadow/woods/forest, etc. (rural, and NOT urban location), ON ANY ONE OF THE FOUR SEASONS though the haiku don't have to be connected to each other. In other words, if your chosen season is spring, for example, one haiku may have the theme of daffodils, and another may be about animals/insects/birds and their new offspring/blossoms, in the same vicinity and SAME SEASON. Each haiku must be written in THREE lines with a total syllable count of 10-17 syllables in each. That's an overall total syllable count of between 40-68 for the four. Haiku rules can be numerous, so here are those that need to be adhered to for this contest: All written in present tense. In each - two lines of inter-connected and grammatically correct vivid imagery (written as if one flowing sentence), plus a separate satori (line of conclusion or 'ah-ha' moment) on those two lines. Minimal punctuation, and no capital letters unless proper nouns. No artwork or sound effects allowed. No author notes whatsoever allowed. Title must be 'haiku suite (1st line of your first haiku)' 'Description' above title must read, 'haiku suite contest' - and NOTHING else. Overall presentation must be in TWO colours - one for background, and one for type. |
