Returning A Valentine's Favor

by michaelcahill

Returning A Valentine's Favor

nightshade grows
a valentine's tea
last year's love

Life is like a box
of uneaten chocolates
                thrown on the sidewalk
                melting under the garish
                                                     vicious
                                                     sun

(I remember last years speech
and your responsive screech!)

"I would only ask audience for my moment's plea
this one day so seemingly appropriate for your ear
a chance to state my case before you, my dear majesty
perhaps this lonely boy you oft ignore might bright to you appear"

that was last year when you cackled "what a joke now be gone loser"
you then cajoled your friends to join your chorus of cruel taunts
you said no one could love a pig like me (a real heart bruiser)
then you danced a jig 'cause you’re the kind of witch who flaunts!

I found a million dollars then hired Collin Farrel
to pretend he was your valentine this year
like me he doesn't like the way you put me o'er a barrel
I told him my sad tale and he stood on his head to jeer

you'll stop by for tea today with your dreamy Collin stud
and while you drink your steamy brew with dreamy eyes
I'll come by and laugh as you hit the ground—kerthud!
then take you home, watch you rot, drawing endless flies

happy valentine's day girl that laughed at me and made me feel
like a worthless fool and whom I got my payback on big time for real!!

Nightshade is poisonous.

This is 100% true, but I'm saying it's fiction so Collin Farrel isn't put in an awkward position.
