Spring Brings Out the Child in Me

by RodG

When Spring arrives I'm five again.
I dance amidst the daffodils,
these sprightly-colored mates of mine
who speckle meadows, crowd the hills.

Their golden heads bob gallantly
and wave to say they've missed me too.
Green-legged elves with gold cornets
who frisk with fairies as i do.

A warmish breeze has come to tease
us while we romp and welcome Spring.
Yes, it and bosom pal the sun
caress my cheeks with elfin wings.

When Spring returns so does my youth.
She motivates, rejuvenates.
I'm like a child again as she
resuscitates, invigorates.
