A Blizzard's Discouragement

by krys123

There are falling flakes of newfound flurries,
makes a blinding blizzard very blurry.
The sound of snowblowers that roar and whir,
men in jackets wearing ear muffs of fur.

There are kids on skis sliding down Main Street.
Homeless around fires gathering for heat.
Electric lines are caked, full of ice and snow.
There are cautious signs wherever you go.

The best thing of all that kids like to know,
is that schools are closed 'cause of the snow.
City trucks push snow in front of your drive,
making it hard for your car to arrive.

Snowstorms can be both miserable or fun,
it matters how days begin or are done.
Complaining to friends about having flu's,
and kids coming home with snow in their shoes.

So bundle up and stay warm if you must.
Try not to complain or create much fuss,
'cause times like these are trials on us all,
if we can keep together and stand tall.

I used to live in the East, vintage upstate New York
where whether drop down to 40 below and
overnight we'd get 5 feet of snow.
