Walls talk

Midnight Sweats

by Walter L. Jones

Can't no sun shine anymore
Just a note upon my life
Drive until red line
Was a better time
Knew you when

Could we hide neath
Time lending praise
Yet I praise in rise
Just another play

Keep the truth in barrels hidden
Soft roar of engines
Midnight delivery
As a white night

Goodtime in what does it really mean
Just a wash on back roads
Keeper of the dreams
So long ago

Reach for her
She been gone a long time
Old engine comes to life
Tire scream
Pops aren't you a little old

Warning ticket
Add it to the yellows
Years past
Sad but true

We are the knowledge
Lived on the edge
Did not crash burn or die
Whisky did not blind
Tried just tried
