Room For Me

by michaelcahill

Room For Me

flashing festive fandango, a sea of dancing fun                      and me
Betty Sue, Mary Lou and Bobby Blue                                    and me

let's all join hands and say a prayer                                         and me?

a schoolyard game--it's recess time
kick the can and chase the girls

I walk the dusty field for                 one

I could add a kick or pull a pony-tail
but it doesn't feel like I should be
with all of them
it's always felt like I belong                                                with me

I stand in the middle and play my fiddle
but the marching band marches away
I sing some killer blues, but they like dancing tunes

                                               there is no room for

                                                                            me

Lonely Poem writing prompt entry
Writing Prompt
Write a free verse poem to express the state of loneliness in not more than 15 lines.

I think most of us can relate to being an artist and being around those who aren't.

The words that are offset such as "and me" are a part of the line they are on. The last line, "me", is the fifteenth line.

Pays one point and 2 member cents.
