Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level
sometimes winter in the north is just white snow everywhere

White

by livelylinda

winter white
envelops everyone
grey tinged white clouds touch tree-tops
trees laden
with winter's gifts of pure fluffy snow
blending into white of ground
cold deep mounds
zero movement
stark isolation

a few black bark trees and limbs
strive to maintain their uniqueness
tear a few holes through the white shield
to flaunt their existence
they refuse to be forgotten until next thaw

smoke from chimneys
puff black-to-grey signals
helping us find our way
in the glaring blizzard of life

nightfall comes early
darkness deepens
streetlights become spotlights
making each falling snow flake
twinkle like a white diamond

descending upon the cold, cold earth
a glittering snow blanket

hurry home

warm yourself by the fire
with some hot cider or cocoa or tea
and me
