A beautiful Australian bird

Little Purple Fairy Wren(Free Verse)

by magic dragon

A gorgeous little purple fairy wren
has flown onto my open window sill,
as I wake up, on this summer's morning.

Seeing him spread his wings I keep very still,
hoping he is not going to fly away-
"Hello, little bird you are so beautiful.

I have seen you in my mother's garden and
I love to hear you sing while you sit in the tree.
You sound so lovely and sweet.

Wait on the sill and I will bring some bird seed
for you to eat, it will be a treat,
please do not fly off into the sky.

I see you watching me as I help my mother
in the garden watering the purple flowers;
they are my favourite as they match the colour you are.

I often wonder little fairy wren, do you bless
fairy wishes upon little girls who smile at you,
while working in the beautiful garden."
