Living alone

Solitary

Lonely Poem Contest Winner 
People around me
see the smile.
It serves me well.
For I can pretend
delight in life.
The problem comes
In quiet...
in that solitary quiet...
that is my one companion.
For quiet is born
of loneliness-
and loneliness thrives
on quiet.
And I am left in silence
with my smile.
