haibun (sudden kauai shower)

by Val Crisson

kukui trees line each side of the road. they sway in the hot july island breeze. the pacific's wild waves crest and break on the beach ahead. suddenly, rain pours down and brings colors both surreal and psychedelic. the mind takes flight. it finds a place that matters more - internal and connecting. where life meets with desire - almost painfully bright.
