Better to Be A Cat

by words

cats in their
languid luxuriating
are never
confused
about their plight

only man
of the endlessly
calculating brain
can tread water
at the edge
of now

perplexed
at why
his heart still
beats
when he knows
not
what to do

far better
to be the cat
blithely strutting
catness
as its right

than the whirling
dervish
that can be man
wearing his man-ness
like an ill-fitting
borrowed
coat
