He Loves Her Not

by Debra White

He loves her not enough to try
to make things right, just says goodbye
(well, writes a note) and walks away
without the guts to even say
the who, the where, the what, the why...

He doesn't want to live a lie;
Stuck in a rut, just getting by.
He has to leave without delay.
He loves her not.

She reads his note, her eyes are dry.
She doesn't care for where or why
or who or what has made him stray,
all that belongs to yesterday...
Released at last, she now can fly.
He loves her not!
