Suicide is Sacred

by GregoryCody

Suicide is sacred
No different than a whisper within the heart
Death belongs to a secret

Lockets built in boulders dangle, sway to vacant winds,
dragging down a poisoned mind that swims with fear ~
slippery eels stealing hope, eating dreams

A face stained in stinging tears drops to dirt
Bedding frost-kissed, cools the florid taste of anger
Cries cradled to forever, sleeping in peace
A blanket washes over an empty house ~
river of memories dripping quickly down the river rocks...
to the toes of a naked child swimming up the sky

No apologies need speak from a drinking mouth
Cracked lips break their frown to risen glee
Falling baby reach to the arms of your womb
Caress a beating heart ~ cupped palms around butterflies

Breathe again from once smothered lungs
Escape home and run under destiny
Finally free ~ unclipped wings to stars
Sacred reflection behind our sunrise

This was inspired by Ravenblack and his courage to speak out. Thank you, from all of us.

Dedicated to the fallen, the blamed, the missed. Dedicated to C, dedicated to Kurt Cobain, dedidacted to Jacob. I love you. It's not your fault. Be free. Be happy finally.

We will see you again one day...

Also, suicide is NOT sacred as in "holy". Not by a long shot. I meant it as a very very personal "monumental decision" to quote a friend. Just that. I have a very close relationship with God and I pray about this often, about my friend too. These are just my thoughts on the topic. This is NOT an endorsement of suicide. Quite the opposite. It is just a different view. I'm standing up for them in a sense. I understand it seems selfish but who are we to blame them. We didn't know their pain. We didn't know how hurt they were, how hard they fought. It's awful to hate them or blame them for fighting as hard as they could and not being able to last any longer. I'm proud of them for fighting so hard. I still love them. Always will...

Free verse typically has no intentional rhymes. Near, are okay in most schools of thoughts though. Either way, any rhymes were not intentional...
