A poisoned relationship

Prison

by belinda45

What transpired through our divorce
Holds the truth to years of force
Evidenced by the blows to my face,
Reactions to my falls from grace.
Every tiny thing I changed within my flaws
Was met by shifting moods that never fully thawed
An ounce of flesh that housed your heart.
Steady along you ripped mine apart.
Marriage, to you, brought ownership, possession;
It never brought you happiness, just obsession.

Relieving the pain brought deep agony.
Even as I left, I knew I had to be free.
Such lingering wounds have festered too long.
Perfect peace I seek comes from Christ alone;
Enchanting love, acceptance, He holds within for me.
Coming full of grace and mercy, He tenderly bid me leave.
This poisoned past with Charming had only imprisoned me.
