Cast in the shadows of darkness
My soul lies bare

Illogical thoughts blacken my night

Beating hearts
Entwined in symphony
Creating eternity
The gospel of God's divine exuberance

I have been alive
A sponge without a soul
Vacant thoughts
Bring emotional disruption
And I am betrayed by what is
And distraught by what isn't

I have run
I have hidden

No where to go

I have looked for isolation
And found darkness
Salvation betrays me
Yet time marches in cadence
To the beat of the drummer

The sun beams bright
The air brings warmth
And life is renewed

There are flowers
Bursting with the beauty of harvest
In an annual gathering
Of renewal and reward
To celebrate
The miracle
Of God's magnificence

Children
So eager to play
So eager to laugh
They excite
They stimulate
They give hope
Of continuance
And unimaginable joy
To a wonderful world
Of a wonderful tomorrow

Somehow
Someway
A new day must begin
And I am awakened
To the dawn of a new destiny
And I question
Where was my folly
What was my sin

Did goodness create tragedy
Did misdeed create doom

Who I am
And who I will be
Is my quest
