Past wrongs leave a lady's mind deranged

Obsessed

by BethShelby

The lilac scented air lent sweet perfume
to all who dared to enter through her door.
Ill-fated men, beguiled by dulcet charm,
were clueless to what horrors lay in store.

The lady was a devil in disguise
bent on revenge for wrongs done long ago.
The present couldn't rectify the past,
and every man she lured became her foe.

And  like a dip into the vials of Hell,
her depraved mind was vengeful to the core.
No longer flexible, she planned their fate,
consumed by hatred from the scars she bore.

The temptress played her part and played it well,
and when her prey's desire raged to a peak,
she plunged a knife into his pounding heart,
and laughed to know her victim was so weak.

Beneath the fir upon her spacious lawn,
she laid her hapless victims down to rest.
But peace would never grace her tarnished soul.
The pain she'd once endured left her obsessed.
