How it feels to be near death

The Edge of Reality

by Dklrdmcches

In a hurry to avoid the pressure that lives within,
I ignore the warning signs and press on.
Living the life that only a few can survive,
I tip-toe on the verge of insanity.

Inch by inch, the pain increases, the dark one lurks.
Serenity, I am told, will wash away the darkness that
Encapsulates all that I am, I somehow disagree with this notion.
Once again, I am on the move, no time to waste.

A flurry of activity I am, insane amount of pain, ignore as usual.
Electric currents crossing streams within my being, to my knees I go.
I have no time for this, I stand, swaying as the sweat beads across my brow,
Will it end, only the unknown know of this, to me, it will end on my own terms.

Tumbling to the ground, time has come for a reality check.
As my breathing comes to an end, the warning signs were there.
Told to take it easy, I follow only the laws that I create.
As the light brightens, the great beyond beckons for my withered soul.
