A chapter in the book Dear Lexi

Morning Moon

by Rdfrdmom2

winter moon
although waning
hung around
to meet the sun
unfettered by
the inevitable
comparison
between the brilliance
of the orb
rising in the east
and the subdued
presence of the one
in the west

amazingly
in spite of
the exquisite beauty
of the sun
the unexpected guest
of this fine day
the dimly lit moon
became
undeniably
the morning star

My granddaughter, Lexi, just could not get over seeing the moon this morning as we took my Scottish Terrier, Gwen, to the vet to be groomed. She was more drawn to that moon than she was to a brilliant sunshine even though it had rained all day yesterday. These are my thoughts after contemplating her reaction. Lexi will be three on January 23rd. A special thanks to MindsEye286 for the use of Night and Day. Love, jan
